Be-attitudes: The Christian's Secret to Fulfilled Life Vs. The Woe-attitudes

Buddy Spaulding suggested this change of perspective in reflecting on the negative side of the Beatitudes.

Stan and Barbara Moody, Buddy Spaulding

Lost are the proud and personally independent (vs “poor in spirit”)
for they are deprived of citizenship now in the Kingdom of God

Lost are those who seek happiness at any cost (vs “mourn”)
for their comfort will shortly be empty

Lost are the powerful and arrogant (vs “gentle”)
for they will inherit nothing of lasting value on the earth

Lost are those who depend only on their innate goodness (vs “hunger and thirst”)
for they will keep coming up short

Lost are the unmerciful (vs “the merciful”)
for they likely will live without being shown mercy when needed

Lost are the impure of heart (vs “pure in heart”)
for they will worship their own god

Lost are the troublemakers (vs “peacemakers”)
for they cannot be called sons of God

Lost are those going along to get along (vs “persecuted”)
for they cannot enter the Kingdom of God
